Video taking too long to download, broadband connection constantly disconnecting, slow browsing are just some of the problems you will encounter if your Wi-Fi signal is not strong enough. One solution is that you switch to the latest 5G cellular technology for blazing fast connectivity to every corner of your space. But if you don’t want to spend extra bucks, you can still get the most out of your 4G/LTE Indoor Router by following these tips.

Optimal Router Placement

People who live in apartments often complain of weak signals. If your indoor router device offers good coverage, it is recommended to place it in a central location with little or as few obstacles as possible. When we say obstacles it is referred to large appliances, furniture and thick masonry walls. If the indoor router is placed in the living area, you can redo the furniture to create optimal reception.

Some devices also have external antennas which should be extended horizontally for maximum range. Some devices offer limited coverage so the only way to get the most out of them is by placing them near a window. If you are still unsure we recommend you speak to an expert who can help you analyze and pin point any weak spots of your wireless broadband connection.

Frequency

Wireless routers operate at a particular frequency. Some are designated a single frequency while others can operate on two frequencies. The two frequencies are 2.4GHz and 5GHz.Wireless routers operational on both frequencies are referred to as dual-band wireless routers. All wireless devices are supported by 2.4GHz frequency band which offers the greatest range but are prone to interference. In recent years, most wireless devices operate on the 5GHz frequency band are prone to less interference and offer better speeds but the coverage isn’t as far as 2.4GHz.

Channels

All wireless routers have a defined set of channels. These are a subset of the frequencies, set automatically and users will not encounter a situation where these are modified. But as internet of things is growing and more devices are becoming wireless, people residing in crowded areas are facing interference issues. This problem is resolved by modifying channels.

Firmware

If you are experiencing performance issues or your indoor router is taking too long to connect, you may want to check for firmware updates. Bugs are quite common and every device needs periodic updates. These also add new features which can improve the performance of your device. You can go into settings and refresh it to see if the manufacturer has given periodic updates.

Range Extenders

When you are facing weak signals, the first thing to do is to place the indoor router in an optimally placed spot. This is already explained in the first point. But if the problem still persists, you can consider installing a range extender. These are also known as access points. These devices are a great way to get around thick walls or to extend the reception in every corner of the property. These are an ideal option for large premises.

Wireless Access Points

We have already touched upon this point but felt it was essential and requires a separate paragraph. This is by far an effective way to get wireless connectivity in every corner of your home.

Time to Upgrade

All these point are tried and tested for improving wifi signal but if you still face problems with speed and coverage then it is best to consider upgrading to a more powerful Horizon powered wireless router. As technology is changing, many devices fast become obsolete and faster, more efficient technology is introduced. 5G WiFi 6 is an example of the same.

We hope these tips will help you get a seamless internet connectivity experience.
